Taken at Dusk is the third book in the Shadow Falls series by C.C. Hunter and follows on where Awake at Dawn left off.

Kylie Galen is still anxiously trying to work out what she is and the many obstacles and changes she is going through is certainly causing her to feel disheartened.

Since her run in with the rogues and her life possibly still at risk, Kylie is now forced to travel everywhere with a shadow, on top of this she is being haunted by an amnesia-stricken ghost and is trying to work out her hidden ‘Someone lives and Someone dies’ message, she is also starting to question her trust for the FRU and things which occurred in the past.

Taken at Dusk is a book which shows Kylie’s journey of self-discovery, she is learning more about her family and her supernatural abilities and I am thankful we actually find out what she is and it is definitely not what I would have guessed, I am eager to learn more about it and her possible powers in the next installment, and especially her connection to the evil Mario.

The romance also plays a big part in this book, I adore both Derek and Lucas but feel Lucas is hiding too much and will in the end have to chose his pack over her; I was also a tad mad at Derek for what he did so soon after leaving the camp. I do like both as characters though so I am keen to see who she will choose, especially considering Derek’s revelation.

The secondary characters are truly wonderful and really made this book entertaining and enjoyable; I especially love the banter between Miranda and Della as well as the heart to heart conversations with Holiday and Burnett. Perry also played a bigger role in this book and I am so pleased things are finally working out for him.

This story grabbed me from the very beginning; I thoroughly enjoy Ms Hunter’s detailed writing, the Shadow Falls setting is always vivid and the imagery perfect but most of all I love each of the Shadow Falls characters and although the plotline is very similar to the first two books it is engaging none the less.

We are given so much in this book but unfortunately have to wait for Whispers at Moonrise to receive the answers.
